Have You Renewed?

If you haven't renewed your PAGC membership for 2008, you're late.  Reminders have been sent to all who have not returned their forms as of December 5.  If you've paid and receive a reminder, the two documents probably passed each other in the mail.  If you are going to renew, click here to display a blank form that you can print and return with your information and a check.  You can also contact membership chairman John Frykland by email or call him at (650) 637-0222.

2008 Board of Directors

The ballots are in and we have five new board members for 2008.  Three have been elected for the standard three year term and two to fill out the remaining one year term of two board members who have resigned.  Here's the results:

Jim Mayer 3 year term
Ken Stalder 3 year term
Jim Yeaman 3 year term
Jim Breedlove 1 year term
Jim Schlatter 1 year term

2008 Schedule Changes

The 2008 tournament schedule is available on line now at www.paloaltogolfclub.org.  You'll recognize some old friends like Santa Teresa and Las Positas along with a couple of popular courses we played last year (Stonetree and Callippe Preserve).  The "Poppy's" are in the rotation as usual and this year we have added a Friday Four Ball at Pajaro Valley the day before Poppy Hills.  Go warm up at the friendly Watsonville course on your way to Monterey.

The Tournament Committee has switched the dates for the Director's Cup and the Zone Qualifier.  The Director's Cup is now scheduled for March 1/2 while the Zone Qualifier has been moved to May 3/4.  This change was made to so the Zone Qualifier is held closer to the SF Bay Zone finals on June 9/10.

Online Tournament Signup Fee Waived for 2008

The Board of Directors voted at the October meeting to waive the online tournament signup fee for 2008.  Those who like the convenience of electronically signing up for an event will continue to enjoy this service for free.  If you have not tried it yet, please check it out the next time you think of playing in one of our tournaments.

Tournament Tie-Breaker Policy Changed for 2008

Ever been frustrated at the end of a PAGC tournament by the results of the tie breaking card playoff? Ever dropped from first to fourth with the same score as the winner? The Board of Directors has eliminated the card playoff from our tournaments except for a few exceptions.

The most important is the card playoff for first place. Every tournament needs a winner and, where no on-course playoff is required, the tie will still be broken by a card playoff. In addition, at away tournaments where certificates are handed out, the card playoff will still be used for the certificates but the TOC points will be split among those in the tie.

This change is now in effect for the 2008 tournament year and has been used for both the Turkey Shoot and the Ham Shoot.
