Board Members Needed
Believe it or not, membership renewal time is
approaching (see below) which means the election of three new board members.
This year the terms of Rick Deutscher, John Frykland and Chuck Cali will
come to an end. If you are interested in the continued smooth operation of
the club, please contact any board member to ask how you can help. You
can also email membership chairman
John Frykland or call him at (650) 637-0222 to get
all the details about being a board member.
Membership Renewals Coming
You should receive your membership renewal in the mail by
October 15. Although the Board of Directors has not yet discussed dues for
2010, we anticipate no change in the current fees. That means $95 to renew if
you're 59 or younger and $90 for those 60 and older. The October mailing will be the only
one you receive so if you don't find something in your mailbox by November 1, please
contact the membership chairman.
To make it easier to renew we will be implementing on-line
renewals this year. Simply log into the secure members-only area of our
website, verify your contact information, fill out the ballot for the board of
directors and pay through PayPal just like you do for tournaments. What
could be easier.
Tournament of Champions
This year our Tournament of Champions will be held on October 17 and 18.
The top 36 players will compete in the final event of the 2009 tournament year
to see who is crowned Player of the Year. If you are hovering around the
cut line, be sure to sign up for the remaining events of the year. Event a
third or fourth place finish in one of them could mean enough points to make the
TOC.
As is usually the case, the players for this event are often selected from
the top 40 or 45 places in the points standing. With people's busy
schedules these days, some qualifiers will not be able to participate so we look
down the list until the field is filled.
Thursday Match Play Team Wins Group
For the first time since 2002, the Thursday Match Play Team won their group
during the round robin competition and will advance to the bracket tournament
beginning August 27. Competing with teams from Crystal Springs, Poplar
Creek and Sunnyvale, PAGC finished with a record of 3-2-1. Congratulations
to the team and captain John Osness and good luck in the finals.
2009 TOC Points Standings
With just five events remaining in this year's Tournament of Champions
race, Patrick Beaulieu has risen to the top of the pack again.
His win in the NCGA Net Amateur Qualifier moved him past his closest
competitor Glen Esquivel by 67 points. Third place belongs to
Tracy Powell who won his flight in the Red, White and Blue event.
Jim Mayer (fourth) and John Binns (fifth) are close behind and
well ahead of the rest of the pack.
