We Need Your Help
Believe it or not, membership renewal time is
approaching (see below) which means the election of three new board members.
This year the terms of Rick Deutscher, John Frykland and Chuck Cali will
come to an end. If you are interested in the continued smooth operation of
the club, please contact any board member to ask how you can help. You
can also email membership chairman
John Frykland or call him at (650) 637-0222 to get
all the details about being a board member. We need your response by
September 25 so the ballots can be printed for inclusion in the renewal
mailing in early October.
The board is also looking for candidates to fill the
Tournament Chairman's spot. In this position you will coordinate
tournament sign-ups, assign tee times and work with the various golf course
staffs to run the home and away events. To help compensate you for your
efforts, the club provides free entry into the tournaments. If you are
interested, please contact any board member and be prepared to present your
qualifications at the next board meeting on October 1.
Membership Renewals Coming
You should receive your membership renewal in the mail by
October 15. The dues for 2010 are unchanged from the current year. That means $95 to renew if
you're 59 or younger and $90 for those 60 and older. The October mailing will be the only
one you receive so if you don't find something in your mailbox by November 1, please
contact the membership chairman.
To make it easier to renew we will be implementing on-line
renewals this year. Simply log into the secure members-only area of our
website, verify your contact information, fill out the ballot for the board of
directors and pay through PayPal just like you do for tournaments. What
could be easier.
Tournament of Champions
This year our Tournament of Champions will be held on October 17 and 18.
The top 36 players will compete in the final event of the 2009 tournament year
to see who is crowned Player of the Year. If you are hovering around the
cut line, be sure to sign up for the remaining events of the year. Even a
third or fourth place finish in one of them could mean enough points to make the
TOC.
As is usually the case, the players for this event are often selected from
the top 40 or 45 places in the points standing. With people's busy
schedules these days, some qualifiers will not be able to participate so we look
down the list until the field is filled.
Thursday Match Play Team Wins Round 1
For the first time since 2002, the Thursday Match Play Team won their group
during the round robin competition and advanced to the bracket tournament.
In the first round, the team beat Harding Park 25-11 and will play San Jose
Country Club in the second round. Congratulations to the team and to
captain John Osness and good luck in the next round.
2009 TOC Points Standings
With just four events remaining in this year's Tournament of Champions
race, Patrick Beaulieu remains at the top of the pack with Glen
Esquivel in second. With his win in the Stroke Play Championship,
Kevin Kearns jumped into third while Tracy Powell and Jim
Mayer complete the top five.
