It's Renewal Time Again!

October begins our 2010 membership renewal period which runs through mid December. The NCGA notified us in September that their dues are increasing from $30 to $36 per year. As a consequence the club dues have been increased to cover most of this added cost. For regular members, those under 60, that means $100 for next year's membership while seniors 60 and over will pay $95 to renew.

You will be receiving a mailing shortly with your renewal form and ballot for electing three members to our board of directors. Fill that out and return it as soon as possible with your check and board selections. This year we have added the ability to renew and vote on-line at our website. Beginning the week of October 5, look for the link "2010 Membership Renewal" in the membership section of the home page. This will take you to a secure section of the website where you can log in, pay your renewal fee and cast your ballot.

Tournament of Champions

This year our Tournament of Champions will be held on October 17 and 18.  The top players will compete in the final event of the 2009 tournament year to see who is crowned Player of the Year.

If your TOC points put you in the top 45, please contact Tournament Chairman Jim Mayer to let him know if you can play in this event. Since not everyone who qualifies can play on those dates, you might still get in even if you are beyond the cutoff point of 36th place.

Rules Education Opportunity

Here's a Rules Education Opportunity you shouldn't miss. It's an on-course seminar conducted by the Rules gurus at the NCGA. The date is October 12 at Ridgemark. Here's the deal:

On Course Rules Seminars will take golfers out on the course for a full day of situational based Rules Education. The class will teach the Rules through a variety of stations and situations that will translate directly into a better understanding and proper application of the Rules out on the course.

Water hazards, bunkers, obstructions, putting green, unplayable ball, teeing ground, scoring area, lost ball and out of bounds … this interactive seminar moves beyond the classroom to the golf course providing hands on instruction.

Includes continental breakfast, lunch and 2008-2009 Rules of Golf Book. ONE FREE GREEN FEE at Ridgemark GCC (to be used at a later date) some restrictions apply. Appropriate golf attire is required (sneakers/tennis shoes are OK). Note that there is no golf with this event, but there is a free green fee.

This is only $20 for NCGA members and I'm sure some car pools can be arranged. Go to ncga.org, click on Rules and register on-line. The more of us that go the better. Show the NCGA that PAGC cares. Sign up today. Any questions, contact the NCGA or Craig Allen.

Most of you know at least one golfer who does not belong to a club but plays a lot of golf. You might also know a casual golfer who has thought about joining a club. The next time you see someone who might be interested, tell him or her about the benefits of being a member. If nothing else, he or she can be guaranteed a tee time at least twice each month with an opportunity to win pro shop credits!
