Spring Valley ILN
January 27, 2018

The club traveled to Milpitas to play Spring Valley, a course that sits at the foot of an unnamed mountain ridge. I mention that because the ridge has a great influence on how the putts break on this short but tricky course. To master this course means that you've mastered the twists and turns of the greens.

The First Flight played from the blue tees at a distance of just 6143 yards. The low gross prize with to Brad Miller with a 77. Tournament Director Doug Marinkovich took low net with a five under 67. Other winners in the flight included William Wei Jack Simpson and Buzz Ogren.

The Second Flight played the white tees at a distance of 5875 yards and turned in some impressive scores. At the top of the list was Jim Schenkel with a fine 80. Rumor has it that Jim had no trouble with the greens and holed several putts including a chip in birdie on the first hole. Ken Arends also played well and turned in a nine under 63 to win low net. Other flight winners included Trevor Heathorn, Tracy Powell, Rob Harrell and Gary Pruitt.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks for coming out to enjoy the sunny weather.
