Spring Valley ILN
January 26, 2019

The club traveled to Milpitas to play Spring Valley, a course that sits at the foot of an unnamed mountain ridge. I mention that because the ridge has a great influence on how the putts break on this short but tricky course. To master this course means that you've mastered the twists and turns of the greens.

The First Flight played from the blue tees at a distance of just 6143 yards. The low gross prize went to new member Noel Sherry with an 81. Long time member Ray Coler shot a nice two-under 68 on the par 70 layout to take low net. New member Rafael Carmona Toscano played steady golf and shot an even par 70 for second place. Jack Simpson was one shot behind Raphael with a 71 good for third place.

The Second Flight played the white tees at a distance of 5875 yards and turned in one impressive score. Dan McNulty shot a 90 to win low gross which translates to a six-under 64 net. That was lucky for club president Trevor Heathorn who shot a one-under 69 to take the top net honors. Last year's Player of the Year Jack Purcell finished second at net 70 while Gary Pruitt took third at 73.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks for coming out to enjoy the sunny weather.
