DeLaveaga - Modified Stableford
Sunday, May 26

The tricky DeLaveaga course once again provided some challenges to the 36 players who decided not to take a long weekend stuck in Memorial Day traffic.  The Modified Stableford format was used to allow players to pick up and go to the next hole once the maximum net double bogey had been reached.  This proved to be a popular choice given the number of X's and big numbers on the cards turned in.

Jeff Segol shot a fine 76 to get the most Gross Stableford points in the first flight.  John Osness took the Net title in that flight with a 78.  But the round of the day belonged to Bob Arends who really took advantage of the format. Starting with 9 and finishing with two 9's, he still shot a 93 and won the Gross points honors in the third flight.  It should also be noted that his card contained four 3's and a 2.

Also of note was Ross Erickson who checked the starting times only to find out that he had never even signed up (he swears Roger Kalemba promised to do it).  But filling in a vacancy, he took the Net Points in the third flight with a + 10.

Rick Deutscher ran away from the 2nd flight with an 81, getting High Gross points. The net title in that flight was taken by Richard Timko who left before he could be captured on the digital camera.  Because we needed another picture for the website, Greg Whelan is shown in the shirt of the day.
