On the 2nd day of the club's fall trip to Monterey, 23 two-man teams tested the tricky Pacific Grove layout. As always, it was useful to have a partner for this event as the sand dunes of the back nine proved attractive to many shots..

The view on the left looking down the 18th hole shows that the
weather was gorgeous. The view on the right shows that some people
found other things to do than play golf. |
|
But our club knows that golf is the important thing and there were some
fine scores turned in, particularly the 58
turned in by the team of Tim McElravy and Richard Baker and the 56 turned in by the
team of Mike Johnson and Dan McNulty. A closer
look at the Johnson/McNulty round shows an amazing amount of Ham and Egg.
The team only made the same score on 4 of the 18 holes, and two of
those holes were tied with birdies.
Normally, we show pictures of winners, but because Bob, to the right,
was going to be the Tournament Chairman at Rancho Canada on Sunday, it seemed
appropriate to post his picture which possibly indicates why his team didn't
fare too well in the tournament.
At the end of the day, he scorekeeper was kept busy with tie breakers to calculate. In the Championship flight there was a 5 way tie for 3rd through 5th. In the 1st Flight there was a three way tie for 4th through 6th.
