NCGA Senior  2 Man Qualifier

(As Well As 2-Man Net For Entire Membership)

This year we are combining the NCGA Senior four ball qualifier (for those of us who are getting on in years) with a regular club event.   In this case 'on in years' means that a player must have reached his 55th birthday by September 22, 2003, the date of the first round of the tournament finals at Poppy Ridge.

Players wishing to qualify for the senior event should find an eligible partner and sign up as a team.  Keep in mind that no team can play with a difference in their course handicaps of more than 8 strokes.  If such a difference is present, the team can play but the higher player's handicap is reduced to the lower player's handicap plus 8.  (Note that just like other NCGA events, players with an index over 18.4 are eligible, but they must play with an 18.4 index.)  Note also that the 18.4 limit only applies to teams trying to qualify for the NCGA event, and any teams that are eligible for the senior event but have to reduce their handicaps will get their full allowance for the club event.  The 8 stroke course handicap difference also does not apply to the club tournament.  (This is a mess to score, but  we don't want to penalize the higher handicap players just because there is a qualifier involved.)

Three teams will go on to a second qualifier on August 14. A certain number of teams from that qualifier will go on to the finals at Poppy Ridge on September 22-23.

You can check your NCGA GOLF magazine for other details, and if you want to play but can't find an older partner, sign up and indicate your need for a partner.  The tournament chairman will do his best to pair up singles.
