You will notice that there were no under par net scores in any of the flights.
That usually means we played a difficult course and Callippe Preserve can
certainly be classified as that, especially the back nine. Take the 11th
hole, for example. There were several reports of people with 20 foot
downhill putts followed by 20 foot uphill putts. There was little chance
of stopping the ball near the hole as some hidden magnetic force drew those
putts to the front edge.
I had the pleasure of seeing two of those 20/20 putts
and in playing with the second flight low gross winner, Ken Stalder. Now
if Ken could have gotten closer to the pin after hitting numerous greens, he
would have lapped the field with his fine play. Despite the rumors, nobody
returned to their cars to find bumper stickers saying "Mystery Spot".
