Hiddenbrooke Modified Stableford

An unseasonable spot of rain arrived at Hiddenbrooke for this year's Stableford event.  The weather got drier after a few holes and 35 golfers had an enjoyable afternoon trying to steer clear of the numerous course hazards.

The Tournament Chairman fielded several queries about the number of strokes being received and decided to study the issue prior to announcing official results.  At the end of the day, it was determined that a software box got checked incorrectly with the result that all players in the first two flights received two extra strokes for the day.  A review of the Decisions on the Rules of Golf, Decision 6-2b/3 covers this situation. It says that there is no time limit for correcting such an error.  There is no penalty to the players who played with an incorrect handicap but the results must be corrected.

Congratulations to Bob Kelley who pursued the problem and ended up winning the First Flight instead of losing out in a card playoff to John Frykland.  And based on the re-calculation, Steve Bryan moved from 4th to a tie for 3rd.

The Tournament Chairman apologizes for the error and will immediately turn over all duties to Mike Matkowski who is back playing and ready to go.
