Five Club Challenge
February 21, 2009

With winter rules in effect (lift, clean and cheat) and playing from the white tees, the Championship Flight went low with all the winners in red numbers.  Bob Spencer, our resident scratch golfer, shot a one-over 73 to take the low gross prize.  Patrick Beaulieu (66) edged out John Frykland (67) for low net while Brad Miller (69) took third.

In the First Flight, low scores were a little scarcer.  Miguel Palma, who joined the club last June, shot 82 as the low gross winner.  Tournament Chairman Jim Mayer (69) took low net with the only sub-par round in the flight.  This was Jim's second consecutive win which prompted cries for an investigation.  William Wei (72) and Peter Malloy (74) finished second and third respectively.

The Second Flight did a little better with sub-par numbers.  Mike Johnson took the low gross prize with a fine 85.  Keith Arends and Art Wang both shot net 71 with Keith winning low net in a back nine card playoff (33-36).  Rob Harrell (73) played steady to finish third.
