Two days of wet fairways and long rough were conquered by the two winning teams who will make up our entry in the NCGA San Francisco Bay Zone Championship at Quail Lodge and Poppy Hills in Monterey on April 12 and 13. The team of Jim Schaltter and Dave Razzari shot a net 125 to qualify and to win the First Fligh Flight top prize.

One stroke behind at net 126 were the teams of John Frykland/Craig Allen and Bob Lall/Marc Allyn.  Since the club can send just two teams, this foursome headed back to the course for a sudden death playoff.  The first hole was halved with pars when Bob Lall chipped to a foot from back right of the green.  John Frykland also found himself to the right of the green with a difficult pitch to save par.  After chunking his first effort, John chipped in to halve the hole.

On the second playoff hole, three of the players found themselves on the green in three with Frykland on in two looking at an up hill twenty foot birdie putt.  After Lall and Allen putted to tap in range, Frykland canned his putt to win the second spot on the zone team with partner Allen.
