Last year we played at Poppy Ridge in February with a cold wind
blowing and the scores soaring. In three flights last year
only five people managed a net positive score which is the goal in a Stableford event. This year, everyone who placed finished in red
numbers. The great sunny weather probably had a lot to do with the
excellent results.
Leading with way in the First Flight was Dylan Cavaliere with a
tremendous +1 low gross score to take the top prize. Tying for low
net at +6 were Patrick Beaulieu and Sam Giannotti. At away
tournaments, first place ties are decided by a card playoff using the
low score on the back nine to determine the winner. Patrick won easily with a +7 to Sam's
+3 to take first place. The remaining four spots were separated by
a single point as Chuck Cali won third place and edged Bob Lall,
Marc Allyn and Rocky Wolf who all tied for fourth.
Not to be outdone in the Second Flight, Frank Cavaliere, Dylan's dad,
won the low gross at -17. Ross Erickson easily won the low net at
+10 while Jack Woods and Roger Kalemba tied for second at +7. One
of last
year's winner in this event, James Kaku, took fourth this year while
steady Tyler Biggs finished fifth.
The webmaster didn't get any photos this year because he was busy
helping the tournament director with the scoring. Just to have
some smiling faces on this year's results page, we have included photos
of last year's top finishers who also placed in the money this year.
Congratulations to all. |
