Use Of The Tournament Committee

The Tournament Committee consists of the President, the Handicap Chairman, the Head Pro, the Tournament Chairman, and two other members appointed by both the Board and the President.

The Tournament Committee members can also be asked to run certain tournaments in the TC's absence.  Take advantage of this committee to lighten the load since trying to run each and every tournament can really be a drag by the end of the year.

The Tournament Committee should also be used to establish policies for the running of tournaments.  For many tournaments there are choices to be made about flighting, tees, qualifications etc., and tossing ideas around with a group can lead to better decisions.  Remember that the others on the Committee have played in the club a long time and have memories of both good and bad approaches to staging certain kinds of tournaments.

Should a dispute arise at a tournament, the available Committee members should meet to resolve any conflict.

And finally remember that the Tournament Committee is responsible for updating the  Tournament Policies and Procedures Document.   This document was not written in stone for the ages; review it from time to time with the Committee to see if it needs updating.
