Thanksgiving is coming and the weather remains great for golf.  This is the perfect opportunity to get out for a round before the predicted monsoons inundate the local courses.  "Go Play!" as Old Tom Morris says.  The last two tournaments of the year are the Spring Hills Four Ball on 11/21 and the Tournament of Champions at Shoreline on 12/5. If you need points to make the TOC, signup for Spring Hills today.

pagc 2016 Renewals Mailed

Your PAGC membership renewal forms were mailed the second week of October. If you haven't received yours yet, please contact the membership coordinator John Frykland at 650-637-0222. Better yet, go to the Palo Alto Golf Club website and follow the links to renew online. If you'd rather mail in your membership and don't have your renewal form, there's a link on the home page that will display a blank form to fill out and return.

The dues remain the same as last year.  Regular members (under 60) can renew for $100 while it will cost those 60 and over $95.  Return your renewal and ballot for board of directors in the envelope provided.  Remember, club members in good standing on the date the course closes will receive a free round of golf at the new course when it's completed.

Dennis Barbata Chuck Pickett
Ed Barkley Greg Val
Doug Marinkovich

Be sure to return your ballot with your renewal form. If you renew online, simply drop the completed ballot in the envelope provided with the paperwork and return it.

pagc Course Closing Update

In the August 2012 newsletter we first announced the plans to renovate the Palo Alto Golf Course as part of a flood remediation project on San Fransiquito Creek. The original plan called for an August 2013 start. Here we are three years following that initial announcement and all we currently have is a shortened course and a large mound of earth piled up for use in the project. The latest news is that the course will remain open through June 2016.

The club will schedule home tournaments during the first half of 2016 in anticipation of the course being open. The schedule for the remainder of the year will continue as it has in the past with two tournaments per month. Check the website for more timely updates to next year's schedule.

pagcNCGA Net Amateur Finalists

Three PAGC members made it all the way to the finals of the NCGA Net Amateur Championship on October 12 and 13 at Poppy Ridge. Buzz Ogren, Keith Arends and Tracy Powell all competed in the Zinfandel flight with mixed results. Buzz shot the lowest score of the three with a net 140 (4 under par) for the two days to finish tied for fifth. Keith finished in 14th place at 146 (2 over par) while Tracy was 25th at 7-over 151. Congratulations to the trio for making the finals.

pagcNew Guest Policy for Tournaments

The club has adopted a new policy that will allow guests of club members to participate in our tournaments in certain situations. The purpose of this new policy is to help promote membership in the club which has been declining in recent years. For full details, follow the link below.
