2024 PAGC Corica Park North Tournament Rules Sheet
2-man teams/9-hole shamble/9-hole best ball
January 27, 2024
Format
This tournament is a two person team event. We will play the 9-hole Corica Park North course twice, first as a Shamble from the Black Tees, and then as Best Ball from the Gold tees. In a Shamble, both players hit their drive, pick the best drive, drop a ball and play the rest of the hole from there. In the best ball/four ball portion, both players play their own ball until holed. The best net score will count towards the team’s overall score.
In the Shamble, each team must use at least 3 drives from each player.
All players will play from the Black tees for the Shamble, Gold tees for Best Ball.
Players will receive 80% of their course handicap for the Shamble, and 85% of their course handicap for the Best Ball.
There will be two flights of 13 teams each, determined by the combined team handicaps.
Net Purse and Points awarded to teams for each flight:
1st: $100, 66 TOC points
2nd: $80, 52 TOC points
3rd: $60, 40 TOC points
4th: $40, 26 TOC points
5th: $20, 16 TOC points
Rules
We will adhere to USGA rules, Corica Park North and PAGC local rules including Model Local Rule F-5 and Model Local Rule E-5
Due to wet course conditions, we will be playing Preferred Lies/Winter Rules. When the Committee has determined that "preferred lies" or "winter rules" are necessary due to adverse weather or course conditions, the following Rule is in effect: "When a player's ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area:
Reference Point: Spot of the original ball.
Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: one club-length from the reference point, but with these limits:
Limits on Location of Relief Area:
Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
Must be in the general area.
Pace of Play
Our pace of play policy is in effect – a group must complete the round in less than 4 hours 30 minutes or within 15 minutes of the group in front, otherwise there is a 2-stroke penalty for each team, applied to the 18th hole. Here are some tips to help you play faster:
When you’re out of the hole (your score isn’t going to count in a best ball), pick up your ball
When you get to the green, put your cart/bag between the green and the next tee box
Play ready golf; who is “away” only matters in match play
If there is a gap in front of your group, when two of you have finished the hole, move to the next tee and hit away
Standing Water: you may encounter standing water in fairways, bunkers, and natural areas. HERE is a good explainer from the USGA on how to take relief from abnormal course conditions. Note that you are never allowed to take relief if your ball is in a hazard (red or yellow stakes).
Scoring:
Scoring will be conducted through the GolfGenius (GG) app. Please download the app in advance of your round. You will find a GGID for your group listed on your scorecard and in an email provided to you before the round - use that GGID to log in to the app. HERE is a link to more information on how to use the app.
It is a good idea for two people (one from each team) in the foursome to enter scores in GG - this helps catch errors faster as discrepancies between the two entries are highlighted in yellow.
Each group should keep a master scorecard to check against any discrepancies or mistakes in the GG entries.
Each player should check their score before the marker certifies. Once the scores are certified in GG, they cannot be changed.
